Kakum National Park: Walking Above the Rainforest Canopy

Post By Test User • 03 Mar, 2026

Suspended 30 meters above the forest floor, the Kakum National Park canopy walkway offers one of the most exhilarating experiences in Ghana. This series of seven suspension bridges stretches 350 meters through the tropical rainforest canopy, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding ecosystem.

Kakum is home to over 200 bird species, 600 butterfly species, and rare mammals including forest elephants, bongos, and Diana monkeys. Early morning visits (before 7 AM) offer the best chances of wildlife sightings and cooler temperatures for the walk.

Beyond the walkway, the park offers guided nature trails, night walks for spotting nocturnal wildlife, and traditional tree-house camping experiences. Located just 30 minutes from Cape Coast, it pairs perfectly with a historical castle visit for a full day trip.
